Jerica Ziherl

Jerica Ziherl was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia (1959). She holds BA in Art History and History (1988) and PhD in Art History (2008) from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. After graduating, she worked as a teacher in primary and secondary schools in Buje and Poreč (History, Art history). Since 1993, she began her career through working in various museum institutions in Poreč, Novigrad and Rijeka, where she acquired the positions of curator, senior curator and museum advisor. As an external associate, she lectured at the University of Rijeka, at the Academy of Applied Arts (Basic of Design) and at the  History of Art (Art Today) and acquired the position of assistant professor (2009).Through her museum work, especially as curator of the Rigo Gallery in Novigrad, she focused on curatorial practices by subjective interpretations of modern and contemporary art, developing more complex programs and concepts by collaborating with artists, curators and cultural institutions in Croatia and internationally.  Ziherl is the curator of numerous exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, and the editor of exhibition catalogues. She is the author, or co-author, of art monographs. Ziherl participated and lectured at domestic and foreign scientific and professional conferences, published numerous scientific papers and essays, was the editor of scientific journals, art monographs and publicist writings. Collaborated on international projects. Since 2016 (and 2006-2009)she has been the director (curator) of the Museum-Museo Lapidarium Novigrad-Cittanova.
