Igor Loinjak
Igor Loinjak was born in Osijek on April 3, 1988. Graduating from the high school of natural sciences and mathematics, he enrolled in the study of philosophy and religious sciences at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb. He received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 2010 from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus, and two years later received his master’s degree in comparative literature and
art history from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, defending his master’s thesis with mentors Andreja Zlatar Violić and Zvonko Maković. In the same year he enrolled in the
postgraduate doctoral study of art history at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. During his studies, he participated in the university project
“Multidisciplinary Research of the Brezovica Castle Complex” attended the summer school “Architecture and the City in Central Europe” organized in cooperation with the University of Pittsburg (USA), was deputy editor of the faculty journal “Habitus” and during his studies he was awarded the Rector’s and Dean’s Awards for excellence in Studies. He has worked at the Osijek City Galleries and the Museum of Fine Arts in Osijek, and since December 2015 has worked at the Academy of Fine Arts (today Academy of Arts and Culture) where he participates in the teaching of courses in Ancient Art, Art of the Middle Ages and Theory of Contemporary Art. He regularly writes art reviews for daily newspapers and magazines in the field of art, and from 2015 to 2017 was the director of the Kazamat Gallery. He has organized several author exhibitions and wrote a number of editorials and introductions to catalogues of exhibitions. His area of interest is the ancient and middle ages and the theory of art, especially contemporary. He is interested in exploring spirituality and mysticism in contemporary artistic practice. He is a member of HS AICA.
