AICA: DIALOGUES
Zagreb, Croatia, 2019/2020
AICA Croatia in the year 2019 organised four public dialogues with our prominent members-doayens (AICA: Dialogues, as an archive of living memory). It was photographed and video recorded by the artist Bojan Mrdjenovic.
In 2020 we continue with the program AICA: Dialogues.
The programme AICA: DIALOGUES has been developed from the need for a more detailed documentation of the activity of the doyens of Croatian art criticism and the deep imprint that they have left with their texts and curatorial work, which profoundly formed the foundations of the work done by the present generations of critics, theoreticians, and curators. Apart from the talks from today’s perspective on the development of modern and contemporary art, which they witnessed first-hand but also partook in, they provide a critical review – from a witness’s and protagonist’s viewpoint, same as their interlocutors – of certain significant moments in domestic modern and contemporary art.
The interviewers/moderators are members of HS AICA of different generations joined by a younger-generation colleague, which enables the presence of several perspectives on the topics covered by the talks. Apart from devoting attention to the doyens of the profession and providing the younger generations with the opportunity to meet them and speak to them, these talks also serve as the basis for documenting (as a living memory archive) and reflecting on their work.
